Increasing Climate Change Resilience in Central Europe

CLIMATE_CRICES
Project summary
Available data, climate projections and analyses of the most recent IPCC reports highlight that the problem of global warming and the consequent effects of climate change risk having a heavy impact on Central Europe and the Mediterranean area, significantly increasing the frequency, magnitude and duration of extreme weather events, with increasingly significant phenomena of extreme heat, drought, flooding and loss of biodiversity in ecosystems.
To address these issues, land managers, planners and politicians need adequate information frameworks capable of defining the extent of climate change on the territory, also in terms of future scenarios and of evaluating the effects that these changes will have on the territorial areas where they are called upon to operate.
The data and information to address this challenge are often available in multiple databases that are not easily accessible, while the assessment of risks arising from climate change requires the easy consultation of territorial information with the possibility of cross-referencing different data sets for the assessment of impacts and the prioritization of adaptation interventions.
The Climate_CRICES project aims precisely to address these difficulties in the analysis and interconnection of the different territorial databases present throughout Europe, defining operational strategies for data management and the calculation of indicators to assess the impacts of climate change.
